These princesses have something to say and they say it with uncanny humor, charisma, and a show that will have you laughing from the very first scene.

The cast of Disenchanted is entirely made up of Disney Princesses, but these aren't the waif-like, insecure young girls you may remember from the movies, just waiting for a handsome prince to come and rescue them. They're real women, who are none too pleased with how the House of Mouse has airbrushed out their personalities and achievements in favour of pretty dresses and perfect cheekbones.
Disenchanted is an irreverent take of the tropes of the Disney movie princess, and tackles the serious gender and cultural prejudices that the movies have been criticised for reinforcing (especially in young impressionable minds). That's not to say that the musical gets dragged down by its weighty subject matters though - it's all delivered in a sparkling musical revue, that camouflages its barbs in belly laughs.
Disenchanted was magicked up by Dennis T. Giacino, who wrote the book, music and lyrics. His creation last played New York earlier this year and has also proved to be a big hit countrywide, winning numerous awards at theatre and comedy festivals. Acclaimed as a musical comedy with real substance, Disenchated will ensure you never watch Pocahontas or Cinderella in quite the same way again.
