Why see The Music Man?

starring sutton foster and Hugh Jackman!

CLOSING JANUARY 1, 2023

Nominated for SIX Tony Awards! Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster return to Broadway with Scott Rudkin's production of The Music Man! Sutton Foster is no stranger to the Broadway stage, and has won two Tony Awards as well as six nominations! She's most recently been heating up the West End in a highly acclaimed, sold-out revival of Anything Goes. Seeing a Broadway star of this calibre alongside one of Hollywood's leading men is a real treat!

Jackman made his Broadway debut back in 2003's The Boy From Oz, before starring in unmissable productions of Carousel and Oklahoma! among others. A veritable musical theatre star, Jackman made the successful jump to Hollywood to don the spikes of Wolverine and became a household name in the process. Now, following appearances in some of the decade's best movie musical as and headlining solo show in 2019, Jackman will return to the Great White Way to shower Broadway in some of his razzle-dazzle in Meredith Wilson's 1957 classic.

With direction by four-time Tony-winning director Jerry Zaks, choreography by Warren Carlyle, the minds behind the recent Hello, Dolly! revival with Bette Midler, expect a triumphant stage return for Jackman - and a scramble for the box office!

The Music Man

A runaway Tony and Grammy-winning success in 1957, Meredith Wilson and Franklin Lacey's The Music Man continues to be enduring popular with audiences today, what with its theme of love and redemption, a cast of sunny characters and a score that has now passed into the American Musical Theatre canon. Included are the standards 'Goodnight Someone','Seventy-Six Trombones','Gary, Indiana', and 'Til There Was You' (which was even covered by The Beatles!)

I think I'll have to give Iowa a try - the story of The Music Man

Having made a living pitching marching bands (then disappearing when he gets the loot) to small towns across the Midwest, Harold Hill pitches up to River City with his usual scheme. Throwing himself into the act, he gets the whole town interested in his new project. But when the man who can't tell a trombone from a treble clef accidentally launches a new musical trend, he discovers leaving might not be so easy after all. Not only that, but skeptical librarian Marian has stamped his heart, marking his time to fall in love as overdue. Will he be able to make good on his hustle? Or is it time to stop running and settle down?
