Escape to Margaritaville

Why see Escape to Margaritaville?

Jimmy Buffett's sunny musical

After a series of out of town engagements, singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett's much-anticipated musical on is now on Broadway! The comedy musical that takes audiences on a sunny beachside escape features a book by Greg Garcia and Mike O'Malley and is composed by Jimmy Buffett himself. Tony nominated Christopher Ashley steps up to direct.

What is it about?

"Escape to Margaritaville" follows the fortunes of charming bartender and singer Tully, who spends his days between shifts seducing the rich female tourists on the tropical island of Margaritaville. Known as a local ladykiller, Tully can sweet-talk his way out of almost any scrape he finds himself in, whether it be an irate husband or frustrated boss. That is until the arrival of a lone, single female tourist who takes her career seriously; Tully falls head over heels but she is as frosty as the drinks he serves behind the bar. Can he win her heart before she flies home, and will the swaying palms and warm summer breeze convince them to both change their ways?

Iconic roots

A semi-autobiographical musical by the legendary crooner, the musical is named for his iconic 1977 single 'Margaritaville', which is his highest charting single to date, and was also inducted into the 2016 Grammy Hall Of Fame. Synonymous with ice-cold cocktails and sunny beaches, it celebrates life on a tropical island, which let's face it, we could all do with dreaming about once in a while!

Will go again - fun

A wonderful show, everybody joined in with the songs. A happy experience, will definitely see again. Great seats. It is a shame the bar was closed at the end of the show, many would have stayed and kicked on. ... Read more

Escape to Margaritaville

My wife and I went to see Escape to Margaritaville for our anniversary and we weren't disappointed. The show embodies the flavor and attitude of Jimmy Buffet music. It exuded laid-backtitude. The Marquis Theatre is a great venue for this show with comfortable, roomy seating. We sat in Orchestra, Center Row V and our view was great. Frozen Margaritas were served in the theatre for $16.00 with drinking allowed in your seats! Parrotheads were visible throughout the theatre so feel free to wear tropical attire (parrot hats would probably block others' view.) This show was pure fun. The story is your typical boy gets girl, boy loses girl , boy gets girl affair but the interweaving of Buffets timeless music was fun to watch. The music begs for and got plenty of audience participation with sing alongs aplenty. If you're looking for a fun night out for any age, this is it. And you might want to try Tommy Bahama's Restaurant for dinner to round out your "trop-rock" evening. We loved it! Enjoy! ... Read more

Escape to Margaritaville

After reading the scathing reviews - I got my ticket anyway. Take a leap of faith as the plot is totally unbelievable and goofy - but the actors, the band and the songs made up for it. It was like a quick trip to a Caribbean bar. Breezy, relaxing, kitschy and amusing. Dont expect too much - just sit back and enjoy the vibe. The crowd loved it and were clapping and standing by the end. ... Read more
