Grammy Nominees For Musical Theater Album Have Been Announced!
*In our best singing voice* - the Grammys are coming!
Forget the pop and rock categories, for us theatre geeks, it's all about the musicals! Grammy Award winner Ben Platt announced Merrily We Roll Along, Hells Kitchen, Suffs, and many more on YouTube for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards - but in a year of such diverse stories and soundtracks on repeat, who will be the one to take the big golden gramophone?
Admittedly there have been so many bangers and success stories that it's hard to choose. Alicia Keys is no stranger to a Grammy (or 16), but this year, stars such as Daniel Radcliffe and Shaina Taub may be adding their first to the trophy cabinet!
All The Nominees?
All your big Broadway favorites have made the list this year. Hell's Kitchen, Suffs, The Outsiders and The Notebook continue to run with no UK-originating shows making the shortlist. The cast recording for Stephen Sondheim's final musical, Here We Are, was also omitted.
All of the nominations for the "Musical Theater Album" category include:
Hell's Kitchen
Merrily We Roll Along
The Notebook
The Outsiders
Suffs
The Wiz
Also worth noting: The Sound of Music (Super Deluxe Edition) received a nomination in the Best Historical Album category!
Winners for the ceremony will be announced on 2 February 2025 - we don't know what you'll be doing, but we'll have a Broadway playlist playing in the background as we eagerly await the result!
