Tiki Barber Joins Kinky Boots
From Football to Kinky Boots
Football legend Tiki Barber is swapping his boots for a red shiny pair this January as he heads to Broadway's Kinky Boots! The sports star will take on the role of Don, taking over from long-time cast member Daniel Stewart Sherman who departs the production to take star in My Very Own British Invasion at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Sherman will return to Kinky Boots on March 4.
Barber who played for the New York Giants for ten seasons will star on Broadway through to March 3. Currently serving as a co-host on CBS' Sports Radio program Tiki & Tierney, Barber was inducted into the New York Giants Ring of Honor Class in 2010 and was enshrined into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
Winning six Tony's back in 2013, Kinky Boots will play its final performance at the Al Hirschfield Theater on April 7, after six years on Broadway.
What is Kinky Boots about?
Charlie Price has just moved into his new London flat when he gets the tragic news of his father's passing. Hurrying back home to the industrial city of Northampton, he's shocked to discover that he's inherited his father's ailing shoe factory, Price & Son. Near the point of bankruptcy, Price & Son's hard-wearing but not too stylish brand of footwear is going out of fashion fast, and the inexperienced Charlie is initially at a loss as to how to turn the company round. That is until he has a chance encounter with the whipsmart drag queen Lola, who is sporting a very fetching pair of high heels...
Under Lola's guidance, Charlie puts a new business plan into action. From now on, Price & Son will make custom women's shoes for men! It's a crazy plan, but it might just work...
Kinky Boots is currently playing at the Al Hirschfield Theater through to April 27, 2019.
