ABC's "Scandal" star Tony Goldwyn is heading to Broadway in the new year as he takes up the role of Henry Wilcox in the acclaimed production of Matthew Lopez' The Inheritance. Goldwyn was last seen on Broadway in the Tony-nominated Network last year.

Goldwyn will step into the role for four months whilst current star, John Benjamin Hickey takes scheduled leave to direct the forthcoming Broadway production of Plaza Suite. Goldwyn's previous Broadway credits include Promises, Promises and Holiday

The stage and screen favorite will join a cast made up of Andrew Burnap, Paul Hilton, Samuel H. Levine, Kyle Soller, Jordan Barbour, Jonathan Burke, Darryl Gene Daughtry Jr., Dylan Frederick, Kyle Harris, Carson McCalley, Arturo Luis Soria and Lois Smith.

The Inheritance is written by Matthew Lopez, directed by Stephen Daldry and features design by Bob Crowley.

What is The Inheritance about?

was 1983 when the specter of AIDS reared its head in New York's flourishing gay scene, causing worldwide panic and mistrust towards gay men. Now a whole generation has passed after the countless deaths caused by the cruel disease; Lopez's poignant and profound drama examines the legacy of gay men today in New York, where reminders of the epidemic are still all-too-real. We're introduced to a cast of characters whose lives, love and hopes intwine as Lopez pitches us between past and present, illustrating the gay experience of the last 40 years with deft detail, wit, and passion.

The Inheritance is now playing at the Ethel Barrymore Theater.
