Adam Lambert and Auli’i Cravalho to Make Broadway Debuts in Cabaret
Wilkonmenn to these two superstars!
"The story of Cabaret is centered around the seedy Kit Kat Klub, the Emcee, and the English cabaret performer Sally Bowles."
Cabaret on Broadway is set to welcome musician Adam Lambert and Moana icon Auli'i Cravalho making their Broadway debuts as the first replacements for the Emcee and Sally Bowles in the new revival of Cabaret. Adam Lambert (as the Emcee) and Auli'i Cravalho (as Sally Bowles) will appear in the show from 16 September 2024 to 30 March 2025 at the August Wilson Theatre, taking over from Olivier winner and Tony Nominee Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin, who will perform their final shows on 14 September.
Lambert, known for his role as the current frontman of Queen and one of the most successful American Idol contestants of all time, also starred in the North American tour of Wicked. Cravalho, the voice behind Disney's Moana and its upcoming sequel, recently co-starred as Janis in the Mean Girls musical film and appeared in Evita in Concert at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane last summer.
Set in Berlin during the early 1930s as the Nazis are rising to power, the story of Cabaret is centered around the seedy Kit Kat Klub, the Emcee, and the English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. The plot follows the romance between Sally and an American writer named Cliff Bradshaw, who is visiting Berlin. As their relationship unfolds, the political climate outside the club grows increasingly dangerous, reflecting the impending horror of the Nazi regime.
Directed by Rebecca Frecknall, Cabaret features Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth as Fraulein Schneider, Ato Blankson-Wood as Clifford Bradshaw, Steven Skybell as Herr Schultz, and other notable cast members. The Prologue Company includes dancers and musicians who welcome audiences to the club. Cabaret, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff, is based on John Van Druten's play and Christopher Isherwood's stories. The creative team includes choreographer Julia Cheng, music supervisor Jennifer Whyte, and scenic designer Tom Scutt.
